Dear Carol,

Hi! My name is Kelli Roy and I am an elementary P.E. teacher at Kenmore Elementary School in Cecil County, Maryland. Our school had a running club this fall for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.

We met after school on Mondays and Thursdays to run for about 35 minutes. Sixty-two students, seven staff members, and even a couple of parents joined in the fun.

Here are a few pictures from our last day. We set up a 1.5 mile fun run in the field.

The kids made numbers for the front of their shirts and all finishers (which was everyone) received two toe tags.

I am sending a before picture and an after picture. We were hoping that mybe we could be recognized on your Web site!

I am a runner myself and I really enjoy your site. I have a running club in the spring aalso and we try to prepare for a local 5k on Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for all of your running information regarding children!

Kelli Roy

Congrats to Kelli for having a successful running program. All you need to do is to look at the before and after photos to see how running makes kids feel.

KidsRunning.Com loves to get updates and stories from school running programs. We love to print them to help others plan their programs.

Please send us a description of your running program. Help us share with the school and running communities. Please email carol.kids@rodale.com with comments on this article.

If the impetus started by Runner's World continues, 2000-2001 may very well be known as the 'Year of School Running Programs'.
