ALL SAINTS REGIONAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL, GLEN COVE, NY Fun Run/Walk for Technology > Contact: Gene Rooney susroon@aol.com All Saints Running Web Site The rainy weather preempted the Walk for Technology, but the fun runs went off as planned on Sunday, September 30. A half mile run and a full mile run were conducted by Gene Rooney and the ASR Running Program volunteers. 38 students from ASR participated in the fun runs. The students were able to experience all the aspects of a genuine race: running through the beautiful streets of Glen Cove, runners' bibs with numbers, the cheering spectators en route and the thrill of breaking a finish-line ribbon for each and every runner that participated. Refreshments were served in the gym following the races, and a raffle for all participants was conducted. Many thanks to all who donated snacks and their time in making this event a great success! We are a private school that has a challenge from the Diocese to raise X number of dollars a year for new Computers/Networks/Education etc. If we meet their fundraising goal, they will match the donations. This way we can keep down tuition. The children get family/neighbors to contribute money per mile and once the kids walk/run they get the money. In the past we had them walk 2 miles. This year we introduced the run and had outstanding results and excitement from the kids. Our children would much rather run then walk. Email carol.kids@rodale.com.
