100th Day
by Lisa Bretz, teacher

kids

About a month before the 100th day of school, my students and I were trying to figure out what we could collect.  The typical buttons, pasta, and pennies didn't seem very exciting.

Suddenly, we realized that our collection didn't necessarily have to be tangible.  The children said they liked running laps in gym so much, that we decided to "collect" 100 minutes of exercise!

For the next four weeks, the children ran, danced, crab-walked, and more for five minutes each day until they reached their goal.

As the line to the drinking fountain grew, so did our need for water bottles.  That's when we contacted the Kendrick Fincher Foundation who graciously sent us a class set!  My students still use their water bottles each day to stay cool and hydrated.
