THE PROGRAMThe Run to Read and Write RED RIBBON program was designed to help young children with literacy. Children naturally love to run and KR believes that reading and writing about running will encourage young children to 'want' to read and write. Charting activities, while working for a goal of a RED RIBBON, also motivates the runner/writer/reader. In addition, the program gives children, who have already discovered a love for literacy, a chance to be published and a means to be recognized. DIRECTIONS Easy as 1-2-3 1. Children complete any 12 RED RIBBON activities from the KidsRunning.Com Web site. They may choose a variety of activities or they may complete the same activity 12 times (ex. 12 entries in a running journal). 2. Kids keep track of the activities they've completed on our record form. An adult signs under 'signature' to verify completion of the activity. 3. Parents/teachers send in the form on completion. Added Bonus: Children may also send in one of the activities for possible publication at any time during their participation in the program. 5 CATEGORIES OF RED RIBBON ACTIVITIES 1.
