DREAM BIG, RUN THE SEASONS The Beach

Living in San Diego I get to train in great weather all year long. My favorite runs are when I am able to run on the coastline of the Pacific. When I was young I used to do a three mile run down to a pier where all the fisherman would show off the big fish they had caught in the early morning by placing them on the hooks at the pier. Those are some of my best early running memories.
Even now, the beach is my favorite place to run. Running along the coast while overlooking the ocean and the waves makes for a great run. Many times on the boardwalk I get to run with the rollerbladers who are racing along, this can get fun as we race to keep up with each other. Many people exercise down at the beach and it can make the boardwalk look more like five o'clock traffic than the beachfront but I love it, even when it is crowded. After I finish each run I like to go swimming in the water to cool off and after ten or fifteen miles this is the best way to end the day.
If I am down at the beach early enough I can still run by that pier and see the fisherman's morning catch.
The seasons in San Diego are very moderate. We don't get any snow in the winter, in fact the temperature does not change much at all, it is usually in the 70's or 80's all year long. Some people say that we don't have seasons. I just think we have a real long summer!
