Becky: Hi, Billy. I'm jumping rope.
Billy: Hi, Becky. I see you jumping rope.
Becky: Billy, do you want to jump rope with me? Do you have a jump rope?
Billy: No, Becky. I'm going to run and jump. I'm going to run and jump over things. Would you like to play with me?
Becky: Not now Billy. I want to jump rope. You can play with Gingerbread Girl.
Billy: Let's run, Gingerbread Girl. Let's run and jump over a rock. Good job, Gingerbread Girl! You can jump. Let's run and jump over a log. Good job, Gingerbread Girl, you can jump high.
Becky: Billy! Look out. Here comes Maria's dog, Biscuit. Biscuit is always hungry. He will eat Gingerbread Girl.
Billy: Let's run Gingerbread Girl! Let's jump over the big fence. Biscuit can't jump as high as you! You can do it, Gingerbread Girl.
Becky: Thanks Billy! Thanks for saving Gingerbread Girl!
There are so many ways to make reading fun. Reading a play is one way. My kids in my first grade class are learning these scripts and will be putting a Becky and Billy play on for parents on Valentine's Day. We'll be serving gingerbread cookies and candy hearts.
We love to get graphics too. And thanks to Katie B. for the cat.
