First Grade Feet
My Toe Tokens

What I'm Going to do with my Toe Token

Photos by Carol Goodrow from the Birch Grove Primary School Lap Program, Tolland, CT

The kids in my first grade class, along with most of the other 200 plus first graders at our school, earned their first toe token today for running 4 miles. It took them several weeks and many many 200 meter laps to reach this goal.

Three very willing little girls let me take a photo of their right (or was it their left) feet today in school so that people could see just what toe tokens look like.

Of course, we just had to drop everything so that the kids could write about what they are going to do with their toe tokens.

Hmmm....I wonder what I would do if I earned a toe token. Let's read and find out what some of the other kids, at our school, are planning on doing with theirs.

Rachel: I am going to put my toe token on my foot. Every time I go running I will wear my toe token.

Sarah: I like my toe token. It is a toe. I love my toe token and when I run my toe token jiggles.

Kayla: At the running program I will look down at the ground to see if my toe token is on my shoe.

Dave: I'm going to make it into a souvenir.

Liana: I am going to take care of my toe token. I am not going to take my toe token in the water.

Josh: I put it on my shoe laces. I am happy.

Joshua: I put my toe token in my secret drawer. I am collecting toe tokens.

Michelle: My mom will get new shoes. I will put the toe token on my new shoe.

Lindsey: I like my toe token. I like to run with my toe token on my shoes.

Alexandra: I will wear my toe token around my neck because it is my favorite. My heart is getting strong because I run at recess.

Trisha: I put my toe token on my shoe so everyone can see I ran four miles. It was easy for me.

Cameron: I put my toe token in my drawer because I don't want to lose it. I liked running at recess time.

Ben: I am going to put it on my workboots.

Patrick: I am going to use it for a decoration.

David: I don't know what to do with my toe token yet.

Brett: I used my toe token as an ornament for my tree.

Brianna: I made a necklace out of my toe token and then I made it into an ankle bracelet.

Connor: I made a toe token into a necklace.

Kerrie: I don't have shoelaces on my shoes. I have velcro. I scotch taped my toe token to my shoe.

Ryan: I am going to keep my toe token on my shoe and I am going to share it with my brother.

Victoria: I am going to have a collection of toe tokens. It is on my dresser at home. I'm going to get a very special little box to keep it in.

Matt: I am going to put it on my shoe. I'm going to play with it.
