Lifetime Fans Meet Amby

SATURDAY: CELEBRITIES AND KIDS
Frank Shorter (Olympic Marathon Champ), Amby Burfoot (Boston Marathon Champ), John Kelley (Boston Marathon Champ) were on hand at the kids' races to cheer the kids on, shake hands, sign autographs, and meet lifetime fans.

And this is the way it should be...great athletes, interacting with kids, inspiring them, cheering for them, while the kids get a chance to run like champions.

Relay numbers are yellow (Frank Shorter 3000) and marathon numbers are white (Greg Cunningham 300). SUNDAY: THE RELAYS, FANS, AND MARATHON
Sunday was the kids' day to be the fans, and the grownups turn to run! One hundred teams signed up for the Mystic Places Marathon Relay. The invited Celebrity Team consisted of Amby, Frank, John, Jan Merrill (former 5K World Record Holder) and Jodi Richmond, local female runner.

Around the bend. After another 24 miles runners 1 (Francis Kamau), 3 (Liuz Carlos Ramos) , 2 (Reuben Chesang) will place in 3 (2:35:02), 2 (2:30:39), 1(2:23:46)
Amby crossing the finish line. Click to enlarge. The relays are exciting. The runners are bussed to relay stops where they wait for a teammate to arrive and handoff the team wristband. Here are a couple photos of our little fans who watched the relayers and marathoners run.
