Laura and Kristi grew up together in the foothills of Mt. Baker in Washington State. Both were active as kids in sports and continued on with athletics by becoming marathon runners during college. Though Laura went to college in Nebraska and Kristi in Washington, the two girls kept in touch through their mutual best friend and coach Molly.

After the girls graduated from college,

Molly and Laura moved to Roatan, Honduras to teach school while Kristi moved to Seattle, Washington to work in wireless telecommunication. For a vacation, Kristi flew down and visited the two friends and there the three fell in love with the Hibiscus flower in the tropical Caribbean of Honduras. Laura and Kristi saw glorious varieties on their daily training runs while training for their upcoming races and decided to form the Hibiscus Marathon Running Team.

Laura and Kristi have since run 15 marathons between the two of them and trained all over the world including places like Ireland, Canada, Honduras, Panama and the USA. When the two decided to run the Boston Marathon, their coach Molly decided to costume their running attire with flowers to increase interest in the team to attract new members.

Laura and Kristi had a great time running the Boston Marathon and met many fantastic people interested in learning more about the Hibiscus flower and marathon running. The two plan to wear the beautiful flower on their running gear in future marathons to represent the Team Hibiscus throughout the world.

It's always fun to run for something you love. It's also fun to wear something while running that shows the fans a little something about you. These girls let the world know that they love flowers and they brought a little beauty to the Boston Marathon field.
