THE "I LIKE RELAY"
When I first started developing KidsRunning.Com in the year 2000, Molly Barker of Girls on the Run graciously "loaned" us some of her games. Here is one. |
First you all have to line up side-by-side in alphabetical order. Piece of cake? Well not really because you have to do this first part without talking!
Once you have done that, a kid at one end will yell out something he/she likes. For example "I like chocolate chip cookies." Everyone who likes chocolate chip cookies has to run to a point you have designated as a turn around point and return back to the line. You must return into the line in the same alphabetical order. Every time you run to the turn around point give yourself a point.
Then the next kid in line yells out something she likes or something that is true about her. For example "I have two brothers." Everyone who has two brothers must run to the turn-around point. Again give yourself a point for each time you get to run.
At the end add up all the points and see who ran the most. See who ran the least. There are no winners or losers, but it is a really cool way to get to know each other a little better. You can find out if there is something that everybody ran on and therefore has in common. Or you can find out if only one person ran and therefore is special only to her. (For example I'm usually the only person in a group who likes anchovies on my pizza!)
When you are all done, give yourselves a high-five for a job well done!
