Starting Line

"Ho, hum....Another Sunday.... another field trip with Mom and Dad!
And what new educational, fun, and nurturing activity have they planned for me today?
Hmmm, a bib. "

"Last time Daddy wore a bib, he was eating a lobster.
I hope no one plans on giving me one of those guys. Those guys have claws.
MY bib better mean ICE CREAM AND CAKE!
C'mon! Let's get this party rolling."

"Look! I see a big green balloon over by that line on the other side of the mat, but the line says FINISH.
That must mean that I go over there when I FINISH my ICE CREAM AND CAKE.
I'm just going hang back here a little and wait to be served. Hey, speed it up. I'm hungry!"

"Where's that kid going?
HEY SCOUT, what are you up to?
Maybe he thinks we're getting presents and he'll get to open his present first.
But I don't see any packages so I'll let him check it out while I'm eating my ice cream and cake.
It's much more fun to see all those mommies and daddies yelling and waving baby bottles.
Hey, maybe this is a parade!
I love parades. I want to see the cars and fire trucks. Toot, toot!"

"What's this?
Scout's turning back?
Nothing's happening back here either, Scout.
TURN AROUND KID!
GO CHECK OUT THAT FINISH LINE.
I think the toy trains and pinwheels are at the other end.
Maybe there will be some blocks and teddy bears too.
TURN AROUND!"

"EEGADS!
I think this is a race.
If it's a crawling race, I've got it made.
I can lap our scout.
He's stopping to eat a cracker.
It's my chance to take the lead.
I'm going for the jackpot.
I'm making my move now."

"See you next year but don't look for me here.
This race is just too easy for me.
I'll be at the Oreo Stacking Contest.
Now bring on the ICE CREAM AND CAKE!"

While the crawling Diaper Derby's finish line was only about 4 feet from the start, the other finish lines ranged from meter runs to a 5 mile race, making it a fun and healthy day for young and old at Attleboro, MA at Ro-Jack's Run!
