AROUND THE WORLD IN 182 DAYS Fit kids Youth The Rancho Raccoon Running Club is willing to help any school get their own program started. Perhaps this program would be right for your community. In March 2007 The Rancho Raccoon Running program was featured in KidsRunning.com . At the time of publication, the Raccoons had traversed 13,000 miles with a goal of running the equivalent of the circumference of the Earth. Since then the miles have continued to pile up, one step at a time and Rancho is proud to announce that we have completed our journey around the world. On Saturday, May 5, at a school sponsored run-a-thon, the Rancho Runners completed the last 500 miles to reach 24,900 miles! In order to truly appreciate the distance a trip around the world is: -Approximately 75 Million steps -100,000 laps around the Rancho track -950 Marathons -Disneyland and back - 33 times -New York and back - 5 times This is truly an amazing accomplishment, that every child, teacher and parent should be proud of. Great job Rancho! The next step for Rancho is the California Governor's Fitness Challenge. California wants to be known as the "Fitness State", so our Governor has challenged every child to be physically active and schools to promote nutritional awareness.
