| Mission: |
Girls in motion is a free program for girls in 4th and 5th grade created to address the heart of the problem surrounding obesity and eating disorders in the United States.By focusing on early education, mentoring and fitness, Girls in Motion is able to reach out and instill positive body image and teach healthy eating and lifestyle to prevent these problems that plague 15-20% of teenage girls.

Activities: |
Our program in an eight week program that meets at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Each week we stretch, warm-up and then pair off in mentor/mentee couples for fitness and daily discussion during the fitness activity. The group comes together at the end for a review of the day's lesson. A cooking class is included to teach girls to make healthy nutritious snack themselves. The girls set personal fitness goals with their mentors.

A Little More about Girls in Motion: |
The parents are also asked to attend two workshops during the 8 weeks. One titled, "Healthy eating Attitudes and Behaviors," and another "Instilling a Positive Body Image in your Daughter."
