![]() ![]() FIELD RESEARCH: KIDS TALK Competition vs Participation ![]() Chipmunk Chase Rainy Day Fun Run Playing Alphabet AnimalsWe took a few moments out of our routine at our after-school Happy Feet, Healthy Food Kids' Club to find out what our club kids think about the question, "Would you prefer having a more traditional running club?" Here are some of their responses. Alicia: I think Happy Feet Club is better because it is more fun and I can't run that fast. Owen: I think that I would like a club where you have to race because it gives you more courage. It also helps you train for the IronMan Triathlon. Amanda: I think it is better to have a Happy Feet Club because you can learn how to run a mile and you can have fun!! Victoria: I think running and walking together at Happy Feet. I like going at my own pace. Cari: I like all of my friends at Happy Feet. I like my teacher. Ryan: We should race. Photo: Chipmunk Chase MedalsHannah: I would not like to run and race and compete. Sam: Happy Feet because I have a hip problem and I can take my time. Noah: I would like Happy Feet because I like running with my friends. Matt: I like to race so you can get trophies. Allison: I choose Happy Feet because it is not a race. You win even if you win or lose. Sarah: I would like to be in Happy Feet because if you want to go slow you can and if you want to go fast you can. And most of all you get a ribbon. I like to sing and I like our Rainbow Treasure Happy Feet song. I like the T-shirt also. Karissa: I like Happy Feet because it's not a race and no matter how good or bad you are you get a ribbon. You also learn how to eat and be healthy. You also get to keep the Rainbow Treasure Happy Feet song. Big brotherAlex (older brother): I would rather be on a running team because I like to compete in races. I can run really fast. On a team you get to meet people you have never met before. Another reason is that I would be really good at it and I would win a lot. Julia: I like Happy Feet because you don't have to do what a coach says to do, but I sort of would like a running team because I like oranges, Gatorade and I like racing and running. Jackson: I like Happy Feet because you can choose any healthy food or snack! Ashley: I would pick Happy Feet because we can walk or run. Patrick: I like Happy Feet better because you can do a Fun Run! Also you can eat fruits and veggies. Another thing is that you can run or walk. ![]() Jogging and hiking in the woods Ethan: I like Happy feet because you are free to go your own pace and it's fun because everyone gets a treasure chest prize! I will show them that I can run with my friends and my best friend is Matt and Riley and Parker and Evan and Cooper and Collin and Cody and RJ and Jenna.
