Footprints to health

2005 spring T-shirt design (centerblock of above graphic) is available to other clubs free of charge. Just Email for more information.

wink This spring our school Happy Feet, Healthy Food club will resume with many new children and returning club kids. We will continue our tradition of using folders to supplement the club's activities. In the past we have used the folders to track mileage, record healthy foods eaten, and to describe the change of seasons.

This spring the children will create footprint folders to log activities completed at home. Here's how it will work:

-The children will keep their folders at school, but they will carry their Happy Feet, Healthy Food texts to and from school each week.

-They will journal in their texts with parents.

-Next, they will "footprint" their action words, by drawing a footprint around or underlining the key words in each journal entry.

-Then at club they will add a footprint to the chart for every "footprint" found in their Happy Feet book.

Examples: Andrew writes, " I ran with Dad." He draws a footprint around "ran". At club he adds a footprint to his chart for running with Dad. Jenny writes, "I went to dance class," at home in her book. She underlines went to dance class. At club she adds one footprint to her chart for going to dance class.
