THE PONYTAIL
Symbol of childhood

At the Ozarks Circa 1953
I remember the moment this photo was taken. My father had me turn around so he could take a picture of my ponytail. I thought it was very silly but pretty fun and so funny too. Here is what the ponytail still means to me.

IT'S PLAYFUL. I wore a ponytail when it was time to play.

IT'S FREEDOM. You can run and not worry about the fancy hair style especially if you have frizzy hair like I do.

IT'S CHILDHOOD I almost always tie my hair back when I run and I almost always feel like a child when I run.

IT'S NATURE. When I run, I can see my ponytail swaying with the breeze in a shadow on the sidewalk. It tells me how windy it is.

And of course a ponytail to me is

RUNNING! So it's also.....

ADVENTURE. You can't catch a firefly without running in the dark.

SIMPLICITY It's running just to run without needing the 'skill' to hit a ball.

ESTEEM. I am proud that I run and I love people to know that I am a runner.

And all of the above add up to: MY IMAGE OF KidsRunning.Com.

I'm hoping that this Web site will help many children have a childhood full of freedom, playfulness and happiness. Please stop by again to read what I've written on my tablet.
