Mom and Steven run together throughout the years
Hello KidsRunning.Com,
I enjoyed reading (in Runner's World magazine) how other parents entertain running with their children. Here is my story: My son, Steven, began running at the age of 7. He asked to run with me during my usual track workout where for years he'd "played" in the long jump pit as I ran my laps. "Try to make it around four times," I said. "That'll be one mile." He was on my heels for my 9 minute mile, never stopping. Now, he's 15 and with a 4:59 PR 1600, I can't run with him anymore. But, we do run "together". We'll clock an out and back route, estimate our enroute time and leave our home accordingly with the goal of "finishing" together. (We also try to estimate the point where we will cross paths for an added challenge.)Our last nine miler had me finishing in a dead sprint with Steven on my heels ... just like old times.
