KR gets swamped with letters about how and if young children should train for running. Training is the most popular subject on this Web page. Of course things have changed over the years, but KR also believes that people can learn a lot from how our 'greats' have played and or trained, and also when and how their activities changed from play to training (another future topic).
KR spends lots of time reading the various 'running boards' on the Web and noticed that many runners are interested in how our 'greats' trained ("How They Trained", Mark Crimmins's board). We chose the age of ten, for it's old enough to be developing and fine tuning athleticism, but still more than a couple years away from adolescence and about ten years away from the youngest age we feel that marathons should first be run. We hope that you enjoy our Mini-interviews with our many running greats at the AGE OF TEN!
