![]() ![]() BACK-TO-SCHOOL FRUIT CUP Make your school lunch program the center of wellness
It's a simple idea. The school lunch program serves a fruit cup near the beginning of the school year. The classroom teachers help support the school lunch program by: reading the following message to the kids and by making bulletin boards to promote the fruit-cup message. The principal also reads the message over intercom. Who wins? Everyone! The message: A RED STRAWBERRY to remind you to put your HEART into your work. A STICKY ORANGE SLICE to help you to stick with your GOALS throughout the year. YELLOW BANANA WHEELS to show that we'll all KEEP ROLLING along with exercise! GREEN HONEYDEW because we LOVE you! BLUEBERRIES so that you'll do your "BERRY" BEST. PURPLE GRAPES - fun to eat ... Let's all have FUN this year. Makes a great back to school theme, bulletin board and maybe a memory that will stick with kids for life. Note: This back-to-school fruit cup was presented at the national convention of The School Nutrition Association in Los Angeles by Carol Goodrow, July 2006. It was designed as a healthy alternative to the popular candy bags given to teachers and students at the beginning of the school year.
