Editor's Tip
Make exercise your down time
To work exercise and relaxation into your busy day, keep a little chunk of your exercising easy. Take a family walk after supper, ride your bike after school, play a friendly backyard game of family tag, or go for a slow jog during recess. This way, you can relax, and stay fit at the same time.
Dear Visitors,
School has begun and with it comes the challenge of managing your time so that you can have some down time after you get in all of the things you need to do to stay mentally and physically fit. This is a challenge for students and teachers alike. The list of responsibilities is long:
*homework
*keeping your room clean, helping family members
*exercising for an hour
*packing a healthy snack for school
*stocking your refrigerator, cupboards, and fruit basket with healthy foods (this means going to the grocery store or helping plan the grocery list)
*reading/journaling
*having a little down time
*and still getting a good night's sleep!

I would like to encourage you to try to schedule an hour of exercise into your day. Some of it should be vigorous, meaning you work hard to get your body moving and your heart rate up there. But, perhaps you could schedule a little chunk of that hour for an activity that is both physical and relaxing at the same time. Good luck this year! Maybe this year will be your best school year ever!

Sincerely,
Carol
