You can find Vitamin D in fortified milk, cereal, and eggs. You can also get Vitamin D from the sun.

D is for Drink.

Make sure to have plenty of water to drink during the day.

Perhaps you could keep a water bottle on your desk to drink from when it is work time.

Use good manners. Don't drink while your teacher is giving the class directions. Make sure to drink water after you run.

The Sun by Ryan

Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal See the Sun Rise

Look the sun is up.

The snowstorm is over.

We can fly down to Billy's feeder now to eat some sunflower seeds.

We love the sun.

It keeps our bones strong.

Eggs can help kids keep their bones strong but WE don't eat eggs.

Mrs. Cardinal lays them.

We have very light bones, but they stay strong because we get lots of Vitamin D from the sun.

We need strong bones.

We do a lot of landing on branches.

The only cracking we want to hear, is the cracking of sunflower seeds in our beaks and the cracking of egg shells when our babies are hatching in the spring.

We don't want to hear our bones cracking when we land.

Make sure to get lots of Vitamin D.

Eat the right foods and if you do a lot of running outdoors when the sun is out, you'll get lots of Vitamin D from the sun too.

It's still winter here in the north.

We'll get more direct rays from the sun when the spring comes.

It will keep us healthy.

Thanks to all the kids who made the fabulous drawings for our ABC's of Nutrition Feature. We know that Elizabeth and Ryan were two of the artists, but who were the others? Oops, names, kids, names! We'll have to find out who drew the other pictures in school tomorrow.
