EAT LIKE A BIRD SANDWICHES
Make these mini-sandwiches for tomorrow's school snack and keep your body energized.INGREDIENTS 2 slices of whole wheat or multi-grained bread
1 tablespoon of peanut butter an apple, a banana, a strawberry, and a kiwi
DIRECTIONS
Have Mom or Dad slice the fruit very thin.
Spread 1/2 of the of peanut butter on each slice of bread. That would be 1 1/2 teaspoons per slice of bread. Place a couple of pieces of fruit on each quarter of one of the slices of bread. Put the other slice on top to make a sandwich. Cut into quarters (4 parts). Wrap and refrigerate for your school snack. Put the leftover fruit into a container and save for your breakfast or have a fruit snack right now.

B is for BEING the BEST you can BE
You don't have to be the race winner to benefit from running, exercise, and eating right. Just try to be the best you can be with the body you were given. Run easy and often. Is it easy for you to run fast? Then run fast too! Add other kinds of exercise into your play time and make sure to eat lots of healthy foods.
Mr. Blue Jay and Mrs. Crow Snack at Billy's Bird Feeder
 Chatting by Matt
"Hello, Mr. Blue Jay", said Mrs. Crow. "Stay for a bit. Look at all of our bread crumbs today! Billy made EAT LIKE A BIRD SANDWICHES for his healthy school snack. He cut off the crusts and made them into crumbs for us. He also gave us some bits of fruit. And here are some sunflower seeds. " "What a kind little boy," said Mr. Blue Jay.
"He takes good care of us when it's winter time. I'll eat a little, then fly up to the top of that tree, then come back for more. This food helps me make that energy I need to fly. I'll be back!" "That Mr. Blue Jay, never changes. He just can't stay at one tree for too long. Well I guess that means there will just be more bread crumbs for me." "Oh, hello Mr. Blue Jay! Welcome back."

Thanks to all the kids who made the fabulous drawings for our ABC's of Nutrition Feature. Oh, yes, Dylan made the picture in the story of Mr. Blue Jay and Mrs. Crow with a rather large bread crumb. All of the kids' art work is very cute.
Do you have an ABC nutritious healthy snack recipe for KidsRunning.Com? If you do, please share it with us.
