Ask Carol About
the Run the Seasons Program

Dear Editor Carol,

Hi, I am a sixth grader that runs cross country. I have been looking into the 100 day run. If you will can you write back to me and tell me about the green ribbon and how you would check off days and were you write the time down, you get. If you send me the stuff about it and that day after I am going to start.

Thank you,

Dan

Dear Dan,

Dan if you love to run, appreciate the outdoors, enjoy learning about nature, and like to draw, then this this is the program for you.

Go to the front page and click on the green ribbon. It will take you to the Run the Seasons page. Scroll down. You will see the charts. Print the 1-50 and 51-100 charts. Glue them into a file folder.

I use them this way. I draw something seasonal each time I run. You can view my chart. It is posted on that page as Carol's Chart.

I love doing this. I don't keep track of my time or miles, just the seasons, however you can use the blanks to write your time and distance if you want. Actually you can keep track of anything you want to mark off the days. I'm sure you'll end up running way more than 100 miles to do this program. I already have, but I'm only on day 25 of the program.

The first day I ran, I ran 8 miles, because I was looking for something to draw on my chart. I had seen it on the way out but couldn't find it on the way back so I ran a little farther than plan, searching for it.

I would be thrilled if you would do this program. I am doing this program along with my entire first grade class, but I haven't heard from any other visitors about doing it. Many are doing the Log-a-Mile program. Click on the blue ribbon to find out about that program.

Let me know which program you choose.

Run for a lifetime,
Carol Goodrow

Note from the kid's editor:

I look forward to finding something new everytime I run. Yesterday, I stopped for a second, climbed over a fence and picked a tall and dry piece of grass. I brought it home and looked through a magnifying glass and saw many fine white fibers that looked like grass seed. I had to make a blue background for my graphic so that the fibers would show. I thought that the image I saw throught the magnifier was awesome. The Run the Seasons program can make your whole world seem awesome. It's the program of my choice. Here's my chart.
