About Your Big Wheel

Dear Coach Keith,

Do you still have to wear a helmet when you are riding a Big Wheel?

From,

Billy

Connecticut

Dear Billy,

It is highly recommended that you wear a helmet, especially during the age that you are zooming around on a Big Wheel. Although you are not as high up off the ground when you are riding a Big Wheel, your noggin can still get really hurt if you fall off.

Big Wheels are so much fun, you are bound to start going faster and faster and taking turns like a race car. This can be very scary for your parents.

I'm sure they will feel much better about seeing how fast you can go when you have a helmet on your head. If you ride your Big Wheel like I used to ride mine, you might even need more than a helmet!

Have fun - I miss riding mine.

Ciao and see you on trails,
Keith

Big Wheels are a great way to get to know your neighborhood, especially if you are allowed to ride on the sidewalk.
