Ever hear your parents tell you to stand up straight? Well, that's pretty good advice for distance running, too. Proper posture is very important in being successful in a long race. 'Running Tall' is what this is often called. Keep an upright posture with only the slightest forward lean and no slumping shoulders. In other words, Don't slouch!

Most importantly, RELAX. Your arms should swing backward and forward and only slightly across your chest (never to cross the midline) to maintain a good rhythm or cadence. Proper arm motion is also one of the keys to your increased speed.

Remember, it's hot out there! Drink lots of water and be careful of the sun!

BTW, Mark Springer loved dogs and cats, but he did not own a Springer Spaniel. KR designed the Springer Spaniel as the logo for Springer Tips because of the Springer's boundless energy! If you have ever known a Springer, you know that they jumpstart every finish!
