GETTING FASTER FOR SOCCER

Dear Coach Ed,
I am on my school soccer team and I am not very fast. I am kind of short so I guess my legs are shorter than other peoples but I want to get faster and I dont really know how. I'm in 7th grade.
Dear Soccer Kid,
This drill works for short legs, long legs, red legs or blue legs. To get faster you have to run faster so warm up and stretch. Here we go! Run 75 meters fast and controlled. Walk or jog back to the starting line and do it 9 more times. A word of caution. Fast and controlled means as fast as you can without collapsing at the end of 75 meters. Don't time yourself! This is not a race or a time trial. This is a specific drill for you that will get you faster for soccer. Do this 3 to 4 days a week and you will get so fast the local track coach will be drafting you.
